My sweet god, but that's sad. @ 10:49 pm

Current Mood: shocked

Okay...having established that the readers of lj_maintenance are utterly incapable of comprehending humor, I'm going to go cry myself to sleep. Holy shit.

Anyway, the past couple of days have been pretty nice. I played Cosmic last night again. God damn I love that game. I can't comprehend why both companies that have made a point of producing it have gone under. Baffling. Other than that, I've been working on visual soar and the simplebot. Looks like the move to the new game lab is immenent. Excellent. Probably right after the conference this weekend. (Which for me means essentially when I get back from Portland, but I'm all down with that.) The fuckers at Titus have delayed WWP. AGAIN! This time it only got pushed back until the 21st of May, which is right when I get back anyway, so it won't impact me much. All the same, I've got this terrible feeling I'm an unwitting participant in an experiment to demonstrate Zeno's Paradox. And as near as I can tell the delay is basically just so that they can produce some nice Flash web pages or something. Like I even fucking care. I wan't the goddamn GAME. It's been out in the UK for roughly a month already, and it's sitting on warehouse shelves just waiting to ship in the US. Goddamn marketing bullshit. I'm really losing my sense of humor about the whole affair.

I think I've figured out how to add an option to VisualSoar so that you can use your own external editor in place of the native Java Editor Pane stuff that's in use at the moment. Just have to figure out whether to cut the red wire or the blue wire, and I'm good to go.

Stopped in to my neighbor's place last night. She was busily packing and such. She's moving out in a couple weeks to go to Texas for the summer. Texas in the winter I'd understand...Houston in July strikes me as an odd decision.

I'm really getting excited about the trip home next week. Wow will that be a welcome change of pace.

worms world party is the sequel to the popular game Worms Armageddon from Team17 in the UK. It's the best thing since sliced bread. If you've never played a worms game, it might be challenging to explain precisely why worms is worth losing sleep over. Basically, think a cross between Lemmings for the Super Nintendo, and Unreal Tournament. You control a small army of worms in a turn based game of mass destruction. Each worm is surprising resilient, sinister, and armed to the teeth. On each turn, you activate a single worm, and use his vast arsenal of destructive tools to lay waste to the opposing teams, the countryside, the mission objectives, and anything else in sight. Then play passes to the next team, and you get your come uppance. The game combines humor with unparalleled gameplay. Here are a couple of movies to peruse (scroll down a bit, you'll see 'em). And if those don't convince you...heck, don't buy the game. If they do, fantastic, I'll see you on WormNetUSA.

Don't forget a dash of GORILLA.BAS for good measure. And / or Scorched Earth.

Oh, hang on, that's Worms Armageddon, nevermind... I'm going back to buzzing Sir-Tech's pages to see if they have a publisher for Wizardry 8 yet. :P

board game. Full title, Cosmic Encounter. Best board game ever created, and this is not a comment idly made. I am a boardgame collector, connoissuer, and enthusiast since early pre-adolesence. And I tell you. It is the best board game ever created. CAVEAT: it has been produced by three separate companies over the years. Eon games: ancient, brilliant, WAY out of print. Mayfair games: recent, brilliant, more or less out of print. Hasbro: crock of steaming rat shit, available in stores everywhere.
